Madison Avenue Helps with Point in Time Count of Homeless
Since early January, members of the Madison Avenue Family have been working to help in the annual Point in Time Count of homeless individuals throughout Wayne County. Our involvement began with our Children in Action collecting items for hygiene kits and then taking those washcloths, soaps and other toiletry articles and placing them in individual zip lock bags. At 9:30 PM, Wednesday, January 25th, Pastor Bob gave those hygiene kits to members of our community who distributed them to homeless people around our city. Working with two GPD officers, the five volunteers made contact with seven people they found sleeping on porches, abandoned homes and other locations around the city of Goldsboro.
As a second part of the Point in Time count, on Thursday, January 26th, Tim Lail, Earl Murphy and Pastor Bob fed over 90 people at the Community Crisis Center located on South Slocum Street. The food was provided by the Baptist Men and Women of Madison Avenue and a local restaurant. The lives of over 90 people were blessed between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM by the delicious meal that Tim and Deloris Lail prepared. Moreover, the lives of each of those who helped were overwhelmed by the love and appreciation of each of those we met that day.
MT 25:37 "Then the righteous will answer him, `Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?' 40 "The King will reply, `I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'
Every minute of every day, Jesus provides opportunities every one of His disciples to demonstrate His righteousness that our world might be touched by His glory. Praise God that members of Madison Avenue Baptist Church are doing just that!
